Digital Marketing and Online Tools: online training for PiCS [New Zealand time]

This is part of the second wave of online training I'm doing with PiCS in 2017. There will be three separate courses, done across a couple of different time zones for the Australasian library world. They're all communication themed, and the second set are on digital marketing and online tools.

Time and date

The training will take place over two sessions a week apart, each lasting two hours.

  • Digital Tools Part 1) June 13th. 9am - 11am Auckland time.
  • Digital Tools Part 2) June 20th. 9am - 11am Auckland time.

Course Content

This online training covers several useful online tools to help modern libraries communicate. They're all free to use, they all help solve existing problems, and they're all available to use right away (rather than being some kind of 'future trend' which is still a couple of years off...)

Tools and concepts covered include marketing with video, online publishing platforms, augmented reality, mobile and apps, and geolocational platforms.

In week one learn whats new, take away and test it out. Come back in week two and share with the group your experience.

“I’ll be bringing loads of new things back to teach others. I’m bursting with ideas. Great content, all legitimately relevant. Lots of good tips. I agree that everything Ned taught us can be used immediately as opposed to talking about future trends like a lot of presenters do. Super practical!!” PiCS, New Zealand

“The most interesting and enaging webinar I have ever been on. Considering it was 2.5-3 hours long it seemed to fly by. It’s given me lots of inspiration on how we can creatively engage with our users, especially the remote ones” - NHS, Buckinghamshire

”I really enjoyed the day, opened my eyes to lots of new tools and made me realise that digital marketing doesn’t have to be Facebook” - UKeIG, London

“Ned is an expert presenter whom I would recommend to any colleagues with an interest in this topic.” - Academic & Research Libraries Group

Format

These will be interactive online workshops, using online software. Delegates will log-in on their PCs, and we'll run the training and provide tech support, plus all the slides and materials and an online booklet with the tasks and instructions in.

As well as hands-on exercises, there will be chances throughout to ask questions and interact with other delegates, just as you'd expect in face-to-face onsite training. All the content and materials are tailored for the online environment and I've got this whole thing down to a fine art, it works well.

We've left a week between the two parts because there will be some ideas to go away and play and things to try out between sessions. In this particular course it'll be all about trying out the tools and emerging technologies we discuss.
